Children's books about Love, Memories and Grief
Children's books about Love, Memories and Grief
Grieving children pose a challenge to adults who are uncertain how to support the child. Kim's over 35 years of hospice nursing experience and the personal losses of her husband and then her 29 year old daughter (who had a 3 year old son), provide a credibility that leaves the reader or audience with the hope and courage to companion the grieving child through the first year of grief. This 6-part series of children's books address mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpa, sister and brother loss. In the first four beautifully illustrated and touching tales, a young turtle learns not only how to deal with loss and grief but how to talk about the loss, honor memories and look to the future with hope. The books take the child and the adults who love them, through the first year of grief. The books provide suggestions for honoring memories, creating tangible remembrances, and working through shared grief in a gentle and supportive way.
